We need a fence... desperately.

Our current fence is chain-link and has a couple of large gaps and holes where Ladybird could get out.  I want to leave her out on these really pretty days, but she's scared of the big dogs next door (all five of them!).
We want our new fence to provide privacy, a property boundary, and protection for the dog and our future kids.  I'm really interested in the shadow-box and stockade fencing.  Marcus says we should probably go with the six-foot tall planks but Ladybird isn't going to be able to jump a four foot fence and I think it looks friendlier...
Here's an example of the shadow-box at 6 ft tall.

Here's the four foot tall dog-ear stockade privacy.

  1. It is also a good idea for your fencing to match the style of your home and garden. For this reason it is best to call in the experts to help you.

  2. Which one did you eventually choose? I would have gone with the 4-foot fence. I think it gives you enough privacy without completely isolating you from your neighbors. It also looks a lot friendlier, if that makes any sense. It would also be a lot easier for the neighbors to keep an eye on your house for you when you guys are away.

  3. Christian,
We actually haven't put the fence in yet because I couldn't decide. Thanks for your opinion, it does make sense!!!

  4. We were not far from what would be the next stop on our "All Things Boone" trip back to Florida, Fort Boonesborough, but it was getting late and we needed to find a hotel for the night. We would "attack" the fort the next day. fence installation companies
